1768 Parchment
Here is a photo of a parchment from 1768. It was produced by Jekuthiel Sofer, a prolific Jewish scribe in Amsterdam of the 18th century. The photo depicts what is called the "Decalogue". The "Decalogue" is a name meaning "10" to refer to the ten commandments found in the Torah(for Jewish people) or Old Testament(for Christians).
The ten commandments are found two places in the these early writings, Exodus and Deuteronomy. The First Commandment reads: Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Exodus chapter 20 verse 3 or "Thou shalt have none other gods before me." Deuteronomy chapter 5 verse 7.
If I say in my heart that I have found god within myself independent of God I have created a god in my own image and have broken the first commandment. I have lifted myself up in the place of the God who created the heavens and the earth as well as all of the people, animals and plants.
When I have broken one or more of the 10 commandments of Almighty God I show my need for a savior to pay the price for my sin or sins.
According to Christian tradition, sins were covered in two ways. Prior to the birth of the Messiah, Jesus Christ sins were covered mostly by sacrifices of animals. Blood, being the source of life of the animal was used as the means of payment.
After the birth of Christ and his death and subsequent resurrection from the dead, his blood was the price of the payment for the sins of mankind. God provided a free gift to all men, women and children of all nations of the world. This is the good news of the Gospel.
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans chapter 10 verse 13

History's Greatest Valentine
History’s greatest love story
Wasn’t between woman and man
But God for humanity
In fulfilling an ancient plan.
Jesus, our God, surrendering royal Deity
To become the Holy Lamb,
Sought a bride yet unworthy
And graciously outstretched His hands.
Christ’s blood was love and mercy
Cleansing this sinner damned.
Her dirty veil traded for crown of gold and rubies,
She freely lays it where He stands,
Thankful for eternal liberty
Bought by the Son of Man.
There’s never been a Valentine as lovely
In any time or land,
Than when My Savior so tenderly, so sweetly,
Took me by His nail-scarred hand
To forgive and set me free,
Then told me: “Forever by My side you’ll stand.”
Happy Valentine’s Day
